X doesnt start with no mouse!

i instaled red hat 7.3 with my Genius optical USB plugged , and i was "forced" to proced with "text mode instalation" because no mouse was detected.

when i reboot my PC , X didnt started, it went all BLACK!!

DO I NEED a compatible mouse correctly instaled, so that X starts correctly?

NOTE: I have to plug the mouse on the USB port, because PS2 port its "dead".

try moving it to a diff usb port (i had that happen and i moved it to another available one and it worked)
