wu-ftp

I downloaded wu-ftp because some told me that would be a good program to setup my own ftp server off my hard drive. So I downloaded it, configured it, and installed it but now i am completely lost. Can anyone point me in the right direction, is there an easier program to start with or what? I looked at the how-to's and the man pages and i just don't get them. Can someone please point me in a direction.

Ok, what's the problem? Does it not start? does it give you error messges? How did you install it (src or rpm)? Can you not log in or something? Pro-ftpd is also a very good and easy ftp daemon to setup & install.

For security and performance reasons I do not suggest using wu-ftpd. I suggest you take a look at vsftpd. A documentation can be found at http://www.linux-corner.net/linux/services/ftp.html
