Wrong way install Backtrack 5 cause Partition Problem
 

I've just install my Backtrack 5 to my computer today, and because of installing it in a wrong way, Now i got a problem with my partition on my computer

Originally That is what i hope i can do....
I install backtrack 5 into my laptop as the main OS, then the window is the second, everytime when I turn my computer on, it will able me to choose which OS I'd like to use if i didn't choose it will just automatic go to Backtrack 5

But now with installing by the wrong step this is what i got...
I'm currently using my Window as my main OS. By following the guide on the official website, I've successfully install a Backtrack into a new USB memory stick, however i wanted it to be install into my laptop as well, so i click on the install icon which is on the Backtrack OS in the USB. During the install, they ask me to do a partition for the Backtrack 5, so i separate 50GB for it.
Now the problem came. After the install, I've restart my computer, either it should asking me which OS would i choose, it just get straight to my Window, and when i check my hard disk, 50GB is gone. I've try to restart my computer and boot with my USB again but it doesn't let me to get in the backtrack that I install in my USB.
So now 50GB have gone from my Hard disk, and i cant open any backtrack that i install:(

So now i'm deciding to merge all my partition into one, I've try to download some disk manager to try to merge it together again but it doesn't work, it says my 50GB partition file system is unallocated and type is Logical. :(

What can I do in order to merge the 50GB into my original hard-disk? And let it work ask i wanted as above???
(I don't mind formatting my computer at all:))

And as im new to Linux can anyone explain it in a more detail way :)

That is commonly the result of not installing the Backtrack bootloader to the master boot record. Do you know if you installed the Backtrack bootloader to its partition?

How? How did you check, from your Backtrack USB, from windows? windows will show any Linux partition as unallocated.

Did you set the usb back to first boot priority in the BIOS before trying this?

What Disk Manager? You need to be specific, on windows?
If you can boot your USB or you have any other Linux CD, boot it and run the command: fdisk -l(lower case letter L in the command) as root user. If you use an Ubuntu type Live CD, prefix the command with sudo.

I would expect the problem is you have no way to boot. Your windows boots, so you have its bootloader in the mbr. You didn't configure your windows bootloader to boot Backtrack and didn't install Backtrack bootloader to the mbr so...?
Which version of windows are you using?

NANA i haven't install any backtrack bootloader~~



I check it by looking it at My computer in my window 7 system



Yea i did, after i have select usb boot from bios then it just show an underscore charter blinking then nothing have happen afterwards



The disk manager is call EASEUS Partition Master 8.0.1 Home Edition, and the window i'm using is window 7 64bit

Emm...so what should i do now?? Because the only OS that I've got is Window 7, and all i want to do now is Try to merge all my partition and format it all like a brand new harddisk, then install my window and backtrack on it as i've say on the my first thread:)

If you didn't install a bootloader for Backtrack on the hard drive partition, there is not way to boot it. You could either install it to the master boot record which will then overwrite your windows in the mbr or install Backtrack to whatever partition you installed the filesystem to. The second option would then require you to configure your windows 7 bootloader. The easiest way to do this is by downloading EasyBCD program in windows 7, read the documentation and create an entry for Backtrack.

Does your laptop have a CD drive? I expect not.
I've never used Backtrack so I don't know why your USB would have worked once and doesn't boot now even when set to first boot priority. If you can't boot from it, it's pretty useless. Did you make any chngees to it? I've mostly used unetbootin to create bootable USB for Linux. You might try it and then install from your USB or use the Backtrack site instructions again.

Just curious..why OP picked BackTrack if it's meant to be for people who know what they're doing? For casual desktop use others are more suited.

Backtrack 5 R 1 instalation issue.

Please help me to solved below issue.

I have installed BackTrack 5R1 to "HP DL 380 - G4" server.Raid 5 is used.
Boot from backtrack unetbootin (USB). And install it to my hardware and configure partitions as normal linux server.
There is no way to select boot partition correctly.As this link.(http://www.infosecramblings.com/wp-c....jpg)can't change right partition.
Please help me to resolve this.
