Wrong keyboard setup

I'm a newbie with a keyboard issue...

It looks like MDK 10.1 is seeing my UK keyboard as a US keyboard - hence some of my keys are in the wrong place :-)

I've gone into the mandrake control console and looked at the keyboard setup and it says linux is configured for a UK keyboard.

Any ideas how to overcome this??

Thanks

`US keyboard' is actually somewhat ambiguous: it could refer to either
(1) model -- the physical keys (their number & placement)
(2) layout -- the key -> character mapping
I assume you mean layout.

remedies: try `setxkbmap uk' or `gkb_xmmap uk'. These should provide temporary fixes. Since I'm not a Mandrake user/expert, I can't help you with a permanent solution, though.

Does your xorg.conf have "gb" as the layout in the keyboard section.

Try reconfiguring your X server from the Mandrake Control Center or by running "xorgconfig" as root.

FYI - for anybody else with similar issues.

Running kcontrol showed that the keyboard setting was US. Changing this to UK solved my issue.

Ta for help provided
