Writing a boot disc
Hi
A very simple question but how do I burn a boot disc? I am currently using kubuntu and K3B. K3B seems to write to the CD ok but when I try to boot it it allways goes to the hard drive! The bios is correct and it should boot to the CD first. What am I doing wrong? Adrian |
Did you burn the boot iso file to the cd?
You should choose the "burn cd image", not "new data cd". |

If so, you can make it easily, like this (select language - English) |
I would love to do this however it sounds far to difficult for me being a newbie on this version of linux well only 5onths!!!
I also have a running version of kbuntu and no version of Diabian so should I use a copy of a Live Cd (which I have not got to hand at the moment) have a cover disc copy of ubuntu 7.10 though, will this do it! Is there any other way I only want a kubuntu boot disc!! for what I am doing at the moment! Adrian |
ascertain that you select options that make the disc bootable and burn the disc as an image.
depending on the program you use, the bootable option should be a checkbox that you should click somewhere in the menus. to burn the disc as an image the program should have an option similar to "burn iso image to disc" or again there might be a check box for that option. |
I think K3b now asks, when burning an ISO image, if you want to burn it directly to the cd. That should be what you're selecting!
