write permission error and KDE not loading
I've install Mandrake 10.0 Com. Ed. for 2-3 months.Everything was ok till i try couple of Live CD distros such as Knoppix,Suse etc.
Now when i run mandrake,on loading KDE , i get an error something like, /usr/.../.kde/... can not be modified and it doesn't load KDE at all. As i'm so new on Linux i don't know what's exactly going on, but i guess maybe LiveCD distors cause that. Could you tell me how to fix it! |
LiveDistro's modifying /usr on a hd-install that
isn't theirs? Unlikely ... Have a look at the permissions of the file it's trying to touch, and, more to the point, find out WHY a normal users account would want to modify some system wide files in the first place. Cheers, Tink |
