write access to mounted drive

Hi, I have mounted my windoze partition with this in my /etc/fstab file:
/dev/hda5 /mnt/dDrive vfat auto,user,rw 0 0

and can read the folder and files OK. Problem I have is that I only have read access. When I try to do:
chmod 777 /mnt/dDrive (as root)
I get "changing permissions of "/mnt/dDrive" (requested: 0777 actual 0755) operation not permitted.

Can anyone help me? I'm stuck at this point. Thank you.
Regards
Roger

Edit your fstab line like so:

/dev/hda5 /mnt/dDrive vfat auto,user,defaults,umask=0,rw 0 0

Thanks! That has given me write access. So simple when you know.
