WPA2 hacking

I am a newbiee to this so please forgive my ignorance.. so ive watched the videos on youtube on how to hack into WPA and WPA2 password protected WiFis.. but there is one problem i get.. after i type airmon-ng on the terminal .. i dont get nothing on the bottom of what says interface.. i dont get no wlan or anything.. and i am connected to the internet through wifi..it states in my wicd network manager that i am not connected yet the internet still works.. O.o. Would someone be kind enough to help me out? i am currently using backtrack 5 kde on VMware workstation... so if someone please help me.. i aprreciate it :)

Once again, (you should have easily come up with this with using the forum search): VMware, as the name states, is software that gives you virtual machines with virtual hardware, not the physical hardware in your PC. Your wireless won't work in VMware, unless it is attached to your USB and you have configured your VM to pass it through to your guest OS.

Or in short: Use Backtrack on your real hardware, not in a VM.

So is if i have a usb wifi adapter.. i can get it working in the vmware? and if so.. how can i get vmware to pass it through my guest OS?

Reading the manual? You will see it in your USB options of the VM, but since you are paying for that product, just call the support for help when you don't find it.

This post doesn't contain any of these, it is a technical question about wireless in conjunction with Backtrack in a VM.

But the thread title states it is about hacking.

And closed.
