World Of Warcraft Lags When I Have Browser Open Playing Music With Grooveshark!

Sorry for the long Thread Title but I wanted it to be as descriptive as possible, lol. First of all, I'm running Linux Mint. I changed the priority for WoW.exe in my processes tab from -7 to -15 but its not helping. It still lags whenever I load up any ONE of my three web-browsers. Srware Iron is my fastest. So I tried to use it...to no avail. I've noticed that in the process manager my WoW.exe goes to sleep quite often. Can you stop it from going to sleep somehow? I've tried all of the config.wtf and registry tweaks to make it as fast as I can. I'm using a DualCore Athlon with built in Nvidia Graphics, 512mb card - YES, i've made sure that the latest graphics card drivers were installed. and 1GB of RAM, it should run ok...it runs fine when I don't have the browser open...so its got to be the browser calling all of the CPU attention or something along those lines. Thanks!

Grooveshark is an Adobe Flash application.

Unfortunately, Flash is notoriously slow and bloated. Do you get lag when you run pages other than Grooveshark? Pages without Flash?

No, i don't get lag when i load another webpage that doesn't use flash. Do u know of any other websites that are like grooveshark but don't use adobe flash? I've been to Last.fm and Pandora, but i think they both use Adobe flash player too.

You are correct.

I would say there is no service that does not use Flash when used in the browser. I do not believe it possible to stream audio without Flash in our HTML 4 web. HTML 5 has the capability to. We will have to wait on it.

However, it is possible to stream audio through other channels.

http://www.shoutcast.com/

Internet radio, for instance. The website gets you hooked up with a file that your media player (totem for instance) uses to stream audio. Once the media player begins to work, the browser can be closed. Of course, the service isn't as slick as Pandora, so lower your expectations a bit.

Try that, and see how it affects performance.
