workstation will not bind to server getting 'YPBINDPROC_DOMAIN: Domain not bound
 
I have looked at the hostname and it is correct. The IP address and hosts file is correct. The NIS name is correct. The yp.conf is correct. I can ping the server name and IP address. Everything seems to be working but it is not bound. May be I am missing something.

Is ypbind started? Is ypserv running on the server? Is NIS working on other clients?

This server is NIS for 5 workstations and only 1 is not binding. Yes ypbind is started.

Hi -

Two suggestions:

1. Check /var/log/messages for errors

2. Try:
rpcinfo -u "hostname" ypserv

PS:
Suggestion - you might want to ask a moderator to move this question to "Software" or "Networking".

yp.bind had a typo.... feeling a little retarded thanks for the help everyone
