Workstation question...
First off, I must say thanks for running such a community and providing noobs like myself a place to gather needed info. :D
Now on with my question... While at school I noticed that we had several workstations that ran off of a central server. I am trying to replicate this at home. I have a box already loaded with RedHat 8.0 and it will act as my server(i pretty much installed everything on it). Now how do I go about setting up another box to act as a workstation that utilizes my other box as its means of storage/processing/yada yada? thanks in advance... |
Are these other boxes going to be running Linux or Windows ??

linux...

Then you want to maybe look into NIS and NFS...
|
this is true...
what I need to know is can I make my second box basically a dummy terminal that uses the server to launch app's, compilers, development tools, etc... or is this non-standard? I am not sure how it is done and wanted some insight on the subject before I perform my second install... |
