Workstation question...

First off, I must say thanks for running such a community and providing noobs like myself a place to gather needed info. :D

Now on with my question...

While at school I noticed that we had several workstations that ran off of a central server. I am trying to replicate this at home. I have a box already loaded with RedHat 8.0 and it will act as my server(i pretty much installed everything on it).

Now how do I go about setting up another box to act as a workstation that utilizes my other box as its means of storage/processing/yada yada?

thanks in advance...

Are these other boxes going to be running Linux or Windows ??

Then you want to maybe look into NIS and NFS...

this is true...

what I need to know is can I make my second box basically a dummy terminal that uses the server to launch app's, compilers, development tools, etc...

or is this non-standard? I am not sure how it is done and wanted some insight on the subject before I perform my second install...
