wondering what to do

Ok I have not exactly installed Linux yet but I do have the disks but I need to ask this question before I install.
I have a conexant modem which requires a special driver to run in Linux so I downloaded it but now how do I access this file once I install Linux.
Will I be able to copy this file to a floppy disk or CD and then use it in Linux without any problems. Or do I need to format the disk a special way.
I hope this is not to stupid a question but I want to figure this out before I install linux.
I am running Windows XP now and I am very tired of Windows so I thought I would give Linux a try. I have purchased RedHat Linux version 9 if that helps.
Thank you so very much in advance.
John

Linux should be able to read any floppy/CD you create in Windows.

Linux is able to read/write a great number of filesystems (format types). The only Windows filesystem Linux has trouble with is NTFS. The specs on NTFS are proprietary and closed, and Linux developers have to guess at them. But floppies, which are usually FAT, and CDs shouldn't be any problem.

You might be able to format a floppy as NTFS, but I've not heard of anybody doing it.
