WMV Mplayer

Can someone tell me the step by step instructions on how to get mplayer to play wmv. I have the newest version of ubuntu as of this date (10). Any help would be much appreciated as I am completely new.

If this is legal in your country, open a terminal and type the following:
Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
This will install the required codecs, support for MP3, java, MSTTcore fonts etc.

You could try playing it with vlc instead of mplayer
Where did you get the video from? Is it DRM-protected?

Hi!
Try to change the video driver used by mplayer.
right click -> preferences -> video (tab) -> available drivers -> try them all
I use openGL driver.

Good luck!
