WMP 10 Fedora 4 Wine
 

At the moment I attempting to install Windows Media Player 10 but when I start to install WMP with wine I'm greet with this error messange

"An unexpected error has occurred. Setup was not able to dect any windows Media Updates. Please try again later."

I say that WMP is looking for a older version to update but of course been linux there is none, what should I do. The file MP10 was downloaded from a non microsoft site but I've use it many times within XP. Thanks in advance

Also what is the shell command to get your kernel version? I had to boot down and get it from grub before, lol.

not sure about your media player issue as your post is a bit confusing, however, you can get your kernel version by doing uname -va

may i ask why your goal is to install windows media player?

there are other options that work quite nicely, such as VLC

perhaps, you have drm content? if so, there are ways to play such content in other players.

I check the link you gave me and I could only find package for Core 3, will they work ok on Core 4? I'm not to fussed about what medi player I have and just need something that gonna play, mp3,mov,avi,wma.

you can also do this as root: yum -y install vlc

I attempt to install the VLC by rpm -U *.rpm and had many failed dependencies error. Here whats it's looking for.

I also tryed yum -y install vlc as Chaddo suggested and it began to update it self but come with this error

What should I do here? Also I'm trying to get some info on my connection and LAN, in win I would use ipconfig /all, what command do you use for linux.

what repositories have you configured with yum? Dag wieers repo must have vlc package. Check this out.

dunno about anyone else, but that link pointed to more or less a blank page...

tell ya what, skyscraper, why don't you take a look at this well done guide and be sure to pay particularly close attention to the parts about yum and installing media apps (such as VLC) and perhaps you will have some success!

If got a nice page of instructions the first time around...but it does show a blank page when i open it now...strange. Anyway here's the link:
