Without Wits
I am at wits end, if wits do have an end. I have another computer, uncontaminated by local whizbang gurus but I do not have anyone to load it with Ubuntu. I looked at "easy way to load Ubuntu" and it sent my wits closer to the brink. I just do not have the confidence nor knowledge of terms to follow the "simple" instructions.
Is there a person, with good knowledge of Linux, in the Coffs Harbour NSW area that will help me with this little problem. I am happy to pay a genuine person. Linux Coffs Harbour has gone off the air, and the main person that was running it is not in Coffs Harbour Any more. The freeze up problem is still on the other computer. 'Age does not weary them'...but is sure makes the mind a lot slower. |
How old is the other computer? Make/model info?
Can you cope with trying it via a Live system on a USB stick first? If you can, it is possible to boot from the distro then install it with the click of an icon... https://www.ubuntu.com/download/desk...re-you-install Another idea (if you're really stuck) - see if your local computer store has (or can recommend) a local Linux guru to assist you further. |

A local school/college student, under light supervision of an instructor.
Free and would be a GREAT learning opportunity for the student, both tech and "customer"/people skills. At least give it a shot: asking a couple schools can't hurt. |

I will try school suggestion.

Yes, a good place to start :)
