Wireless reception problem

Hi im new to linux. I have a netbook and a notebook. I have installed ubuntu 11.10 in the netbook and blackbuntu 3.0 in the notebook.

When im accessing the internet from the netbook, everything is fine, im having two bars in my room. But when im trying to access the internet from the notebook, im being able to connect or sometimes i cannot cannot to the access point at all. Both are in my room, normally, the signal strength for both of them should be similar, why is the netbook getting more signal than the notebook?

Sorry for the english

And thanks in advance for helping me

Here's an idea for testing:

Boot the notebook to a live CD. The Ubuntu one should be fine.

Test the wireless strength with that. If it is different from the Blackbuntu load, it is likely a software issue with Blackbuntu. If it is the same as Blackbuntu's, still weaker than the netbook, it may be an issue with the wireless antenna or card or (extremely unlikely) a source of interference nearer to the laptop than the netbook.

Also, switch the locations of the netbook and the laptop (with and without the live CD load).
