wireless problems in BackTrack

Ok, I am a complete noob to linux and I know that you probably hear this question alot...but I simply cannot get my wireless card to work. I went into the wireless settings and it detected a wireless connection (even though there are 3 it detected 1) but for some reason im not connected even though it said it was connected. There is no was for me to get onto the internet from linux when my wireless card is not working so i have to be on windows to post so im not sure what info you need to help out (if willing that is, and if so than thank you) I know that my wireless card ia an Intel PRO/Wireless BG 2200. How can I get it to work?
