Try this:
find /lib/modules/`uname -r` -type f -name 'rtl*'

Try modprobe'ing the modules found. If successful, issue 'ip addr' to see if the new device was recognized.

Probably

linux-headers-generic-lts-vivid

and

linux-image-generic-lts-vivid

based on that list. The compiled from source module will happen against the currently running kernel by default. So reboot to the new kernel if this is a change.

$ uname -r

To see what you're currently running. Although past logs would suggest 3.19.x although it's not working for you in terms of wireless.

I ran these commands

$ sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic-lts-vivid
$ sudo apt-get install linux-image-generic-lts-vivid

$ mkdir temp_wifi
$ cd temp_wifi
$ git clone https://github.com/lwfinger/rtlwifi_new
$ cd rtlwifi_new
$ make
$ sudo make install
$ sudo shutdown -r now

But still after rebooting I am not getting my wifi-option

My uname -r shows
3.19.0-69-generic

What should I do next?

$ lspci -nnk

$ lsusb

$ dmesg | grep -i rtl

$ sudo ifconfig -a

See what's happening basically.

$ sudo apt-get install --reinstall linux-headers-generic-lts-vivid
$ sudo apt-get install --reinstall linux-image-generic-lts-vivid

And add --reinstall so it replaces what is currently there with the distro version. Versus does nothing if it see's that it's already installed. There was previously a mismatch between the rlt87* module and the existing kernel, reinstalling should reset that to the distro's flavor of the month. Which hopefully fixes at least one of your issues.

reboot after --reinstall and check again. Or reboot into one of the many other kernels you have installed. TBH, a fresh install would probably solve your issue in a fraction of the time.

$ sudo shutdown -r now

$ lsmod | grep -i rtl

$ sudo ifconfig -a

Even after reinstall and reboot, I am not getting wifi. I ran the following commands:-

sudo apt-get install --reinstall linux-headers-generic-lts-vivid
sudo apt-get install --reinstall linux-image-generic-lts-vivid
sudo shutdown -r now

lsmod | grep -i rtl
