I have slack 10.1 running 2.4.26, as well as the option to boot linux-2.4.30.
I'm actually asking where to get started and heading. I am wondering where and how to begin with getting the DWL-G630 I have working with it.
The PCMCIA slot seems to work fine. I say this because when I have the card in, I get the following when I run
cardctl info :
Code:
PRODID_1="Atheros Communications, Inc."
PRODID_2="AR5001-0000-0000"
PRODID_3="Wireless LAN Reference Card"
PRODID_4="00"
MANFID=0271,0012
FUNCID=6
the cardctl eject and insert options both seem to work because I get the tones. When inserting, I do get a low tone which I've read indicates that it inserted but didn't recognize or find a driver.
Where do I start? It seems I need to find a driver for it and tell linux "Hey, that's a Atheros pcmcia network card!", but how?
I have, in my ventures on the web, noticed referances to madwifi and the like because the only drivers are Winderz drivers. Is this where I should be heading first?
I have an on-board NIC that works fine that is set to eth0. Am I supposed to assign either that or eth1 (preferable) to the card somehow?
Many preemptive thanks in advance,
