Wireless Networking problems RH9
I just installed Red Hat 9 on my laptop and am having some strange wireless issues.
I had 8.0 installed previously and everything worked perfectly. I am using an orinocco silver card and after I did my RH9 install I had a net connection for a little while. When I rebooted my system my connection stopped working. When I go to a bash command and type "ifconfig" I don't even see that my ethernet adapter is up. When I type "ifconfig eth0 up" it will come up and I can see the lights flash on my pcmcia card. But the problem is when I set my IP address I can't send anything out or receive anything. I can't even ping my gateway by ip address. I am sure this is a driver problem and think I need to use insmod, but I am a newbie in need of guidance. Thanks David |
Do your logs show any error messages about this card/module? (/var/log/messages) or (/var/log/syslog) Does iwconfig eth0 return any information? What does your /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 look like? Also, what does cardctl ident and cardctl status return?
