possibly that you don't have the kernel headers installed..
do these commands then try again..

aptitude install module-assistant build-essential
m-a update
m-a prepare

You have to apt-get the kernel sources and to make prepare

I tried what you said but still the same error. In the end of make it gives:

Checking kernel compatibility in:
/lib/modules/2.6.18-6-amd64/source//
grep: /lib/modules/2.6.18-6-amd64/source//drivers/base/core.c: No such file or directory
! CONFIG_NET_WIRELESS_NETLINK can not be set in .config!
make: *** [compatible/modified] Error 1

After that make patch_kernel doesn't work. How can I apt-get the kernel sources?

you tried what ? the instructions I posted ? or your interpretation of what agrouf said ?

The instructions I posted should have automatically downloaded the proper source files for your kernel, and extracted them into the appropriate location on your system..as well as anything you might still need to successfully compile a program from source. is that what you saw happen happen when/if you ran those commands ?

don't know what you did, couldn't see your screen from here

When you followed that same how-to I posted, did you do this step at the very beginning ?

ln -s /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/build /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/source

until this link is created, they are correct that directory would NOT exist....

WHen I ran
ln -s /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/build /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/source
I got:

ln: creating symbolic link `/lib/modules/2.6.18-6-amd64/source/build' to `/lib/modules/2.6.18-6-amd64/build': File exists

So this is what I did and what I got:

modprobe mac80211
FATAL: Module mac80211 not found.

So will first install mac80211 subsystem

ls /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/build/Makefile

like before:
ln: creating symbolic link `/lib/modules/2.6.18-6-amd64/source/build' to `/lib/modules/2.6.18-6-amd64/build': File exists

uname -r
2.6.18-6-amd64

wget \
