samba really has nothing to do with the wireless connection.
systemctl stop samba

Wireless worked prior to installing a new router? Were any other changes made to your laptop? I might try lowering the wireless speed to see if that makes a difference.

Wireless worked fine before the switch, though it did this thing where only my laptop could access it after a while, every other device in the house couldn't use it. Basically the opposite of my current situation. Also, would I be able to safely remove samba from my system, as far as I know I've never used it until now

Hi...

Some additional things to try that I found here...

1. "...change the wep encryption to just wpa2 (CCMP)(AES) not (TKIP) if you have that option..."

2. "...set your wireless channel in the router to 1 or 11 then save the router configuration and reboot it."

3. "...go into network manager at top right corner of the screen and click on edit connections>wireless tab and set IPV6 to ignore."

DON'T do any of the others! Does this help?

Also, could you open a terminal and post (copy and paste) the output of this command...

Code:
dmesg
Thanks!
