wireless driver for thinkpad t40

I just installed Mandrake 10 on my Thinkpad T40, and would like to use it for wireless access to the Internet (as I do through Windows.) The wireless card is the non-Centrino IBM 802.11 a/b, with the Windows driver made by Accton Technologies. I've looked at all the usual suspect sites, but it seems like there is no current Linux driver for this adapter. Kinda surprising seeing that Thinkpads are pretty common and IBM has this push to get Linux into the mainstream.

Does anyone know when such a driver will be released, or am I stuck with trying LinuxAnt next?

Also, what is a good beginner's book for someone like me who is somewhat familiar with the shell language and file structure already, but have no clue modifying the kernel, writing drivers, etc. ?

Thanks.

Bill
