wireless connection with ubuntu 10.10

I just downloaded ubuntu 10.10 on my asus eee pc 1015pem. Everything seems to work fine but I have really a hard time to get my wireless working. The appropriate driver seems to be installed and active. My router is ok, too (Netgear WPN 824 v2). However, when I try to enter my wireless password and try to open the internet with Firefox then the web browser is offline and I cannot get internet connection. Connection with the ethernet cable is fine. I assume I miss an important step.

Maybe someone can help me with that problem. Thank you very much in advance.

What kind of wireless card do you have, and what drivers are being loaded for it?

wireless card & driver

Thank you for your response.

I have a BCM4313 802b/g LP-PHY card and a Broadcom STA wireless driver installed and activated.

Awesome, thanks. Can you post the outputs of ifconfig -a and iwconfig?

Why do you always post the same thing? And why share your internet and disable the password? That goes against the laws of security...

Hello,

If you don't have anything useful to say, then please don't post. Advice like this to a newbie is pretty ugly and plain rude.

Kind regards,

Eric

Well, there wasn't a word about security. Remember that ubuntu is about "humanity to others" rather security. But it's true that this is no ubuntu-only forum =)

Well that was still pointless to say in this thread. Also, you post that same link everywhere; You need to back off a bit or the wrong person will report you. Just trying to help out....
