I have just installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my hp compaq 2760s but i can't connect to the wireless network, try different version of the OS e.i 9.04, 9.10 but still couldn't please help me I would love to use Linux through out with out visiting windows whenever i want to visit the internet HELP! HELP! am current using Ubuntu 10.04.
Hi, could you perform the command "ifconfig" and copy and paste the results here within code tags, could you also do "lspci" and "lsusb", it is likely the driver for your laptop's wifi card was not installed. Also please do not put "HELP! HELP!", It makes it look like you are shouting for help which is not at all helpful in these forums.
What problem do you have exactly? Ubuntu cannot see your wireless network but it can see others for example? Or it can't find your wifi adapter? If is the adapter prob it is usb or pci?
Is the driver for your wireless card installed and active ?
go to
system->administration->hardware drivers
and see if your wireless card is showing up there and is it saying some thing like the drivers not installed or not active etc... if yes then you will have to install the drivers for your card and then it might start working.
thanks guys am very new in this, sorry for any confusion i might have caused, I have just installed the hardware drivers but i still can't access the internet.
