wireless connection.
I have a netgear router serving a downstairs PC with windows XP.I have another PC upstairs with ubuntu only. I purchased an edimax 7381ug wireless adapter with set-up wizard. The set up wizard doesn't appear to follow the procedure and the adapter doesn't pick up anything. In the most simple terms what do I need to do ? Yes I feel like an idiot !

Hi,
Welcome to LQ! You need to post the errors you got along with specifics of what is occurring. Which distro version, not just ubuntu? What is the script/wizard are you attempting to use? We can't look over your shoulder. :) Look at the next two links; |

If it's linux, then the "Setup wizard" is unlikely to work. No matter, linux can still make it work (probably). What, exactly is this "7381ug". Please post links to the manufacturer's website and a link to download the manual for it. If it is plugged into your linux box, please post the outputs of: lspci (if it is a PCI card) lsusb (if it plugs into USB) from your linix box, as that'll help us determine just what sort of device it is, and hopefully, how to make it work for you. |
Is this the actual part number? EW-7318Ug

Bizarrely I managed the solution myself. The edimax adapter now works. I simply used the code from my server Skybroadband and the encription code on the base of the router and bingo access to internet.
Thanks for help Gerry |
