Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

okay, i had a netgear wireless card, i tried to get that to work , it didnt, so 2 weeks ago all i was doing was going to best buy buying a card, tryin it for a while, if it didnt work i took it back and got another, well, after trynig about every single card i could buy in a store i finally got fed up, i just ordered an Orinoco Silver 802.11a/b and i bought a pcmcia to pci adapter cuz im using a desktop, i got it all in today and fired it up and all i got was the same error ive been getting
"cannot activate device 'blah blah' on eth0 device does not seem to be present delaying initalization" or something to that extent.
linux is recognizing the presence of the adapter, and giving it a driver.. something like yenta_driver or somethin... the adapter has 2 lights, one 5v and one 3.5v and neither are lighting up, even tho i have my power management set up for 3.65v with a 500w power supply, anyway regardless, if linux is recognizing it in the hardware browser that means its workin...
anyway, anyone have any idea what steps i should take to get this thing to work?
