Wireless Card and Video Card driver install help

Hey guys. I installed SUSE Linux 11.0 on my system. I am having some video problems and my wireless card and ethernet card do not show up in Yast Network devices. I was told to use NDISwrapper, but I am having alot of trouble with it. I downloaded NDISwrapper to my usb key, and the linux drive for my ATI Radeon x1250 series video card. When I try and run the video driver install as either run or run in terminal, it tells me to run the install as the super user which I have no idea how to do.
As far as NDISwrapper goes, I have looked at the install instructions it gives and tried running the commands, but they don't work. I tried cd'ing to the actual ndiswrapper-1.53 directory and then running the tar zxvf ndiswrapper-1.53.tar.gz command, and it doesn't work. The make commands don't work as well. Could anyone offer me any help. I have a post in the laptop foreign titled installed on laptop -- booting to grub command line, that has alot of information with what is going on. Thanks in advance.

Just an update. I logged in as root and ran the installer for the video card, and now when I reboot my system and try and go to the gnome desktop, it just boots a white screen with the arrow pointer and that's it....definitely have no idea what to do now.
