Wireless adapter drivers

I am new to the whole linux thing and I am trying to set up my computer, however, I can't figure out how to install the drivers for my alfa awus036h. It came with a installation disc and when I go through the steps I get to a page for selecting which operating system you are installing for, I obviously pick linux but then it pops up a wine explorer box and I have no idea what to do. Help?

Welcome.
To start with, you need to provide us with more information in order for us to accurately help you. Information like what linux distribution and version that you are using and what type of hardware/(system specs) you are using. Also, anything you have tried to fix the problem along with error messages you may have encountered. Given some or all of these things I believe you will find we will be able to help you much more efficiently. :-)

Regards

depending on a what distro you are using, the drivers may already be installed with the linux kernel. try opening your network manager app and see if the device is listed.

I am using kali, the latest one, and trying to get the afla AWUS036H to work. I've tried to install from the disc, and i've tried downloading a older version of the driver in a tar.gz, and i unpacked it and tried to run the make command on it in terminal but it tells me the directory doesn't exist.

supposedly your device is supported out of the box. I have no experience with kali, but have you checked to see if the device is detected. try "ifconfig" or as root "ifconfig" and see if the interface is listed.

and may I suggest that kali may not be the easiest distribution to learn linux on, considering it is a specialized distro for penetration testing. The device you have for wireless seems to be recommended in their forums though.

I agree that you may wish to consider a different distro. There is little in Kali for a newbie.
