I have CBT software which requires IE6 and WMPLAYER 9 , I can get IE installed and working fine . But when i go to install WMPLAYER i get the below error

Quote:
wine setup is unable to detect available updates
I have tried a few various different things , but very open to suggestions .

... while the wine page for WMP9 says it goes, it also lists a bug (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1886) concerning exactly what you experience.

I probably should have noted that after Wine 0.9.6 or so I was able to
successfully install WMP9 and use WMP dependent applications. I have to use
native msxml to make the installer work. For runtime, native qedit and quartz
are required (builtin quartz crashes as of 0.9.18).
... it seems it can be done with some effort.

Some people have reported that using wine tools can help.

Good greif: vendor lockin with Computer Based Training software ... these are normally just web-pages. Maybe some idiot would require macromedia shockwave...
