Wine on Yellow Dog Linux

So, I recently installed Yellow Dog Linux on my mac, and would like to install wine on there. There is no specific wine download for yellow dog, so what should I do? also, is it pretty easy to install stuff? i've never done it before, so ya, im an official n00b. thanks!

You could download the platform-independent sources and try to compile them by yourself: http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ckage_id=77449

Unpack the tar.gz, change into the created directory and execute
1.) ./configure
2.) make
3.) su
4.) make install

I guess in this point Yello Dog does not differ from other distributions...

yes, but wine is not an emulator... it is simply a windows compatibility layer..., the only emulation it does is to emulate the windows API, so wine only runs on intel processors. believe me, i tried...

well, the ./configure command worked without a hitch, but make came up with several errors at the end. i tried to keep going anyway, but the su command (no idea what it does) asked for a password, yet wouldnt let me enter it. yuck
the erros from the make command were as follows

{standard input}:486: Error: syntax error; found `@' but expected `,'
{standard input}:486: Error: junk at end of line: `@hi'
{standard input}:506: Error: syntax error; found `@' but expected `,'

{standard input}:526: Error: syntax error; found `@' but expected `,'

{standard input}:546: Error: syntax error; found `@' but expected `,'

make[2]: *** [glu32.spec.o] Error 1

make[1]: *** [glu32] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/danjacob/downloads/wine-20040121/dlls'
make: *** [dlls] Error 2

will this make such a big difference?

You can't go on with "make install" if make gives you errors. It makes the binary or not. If there is no binary there is nothing that can be installed by "make install"...
BTW: "su" just substitutes the user who executes the next commands (until you quit it with exit). If you type su without a username you become superuser root.

Something different: have you tried bochs or so which emulates a whole pc?

I think yes, it will work on a ppc processor. Bochs emulates the hardware of a whole x86 pc. But you do need an operating system to install to that virtual pc.
