wine not working, and photo shop not loading
Hello all,
I am a photographer, trying to get linux to run photoshop. I have installed wine on my computer, but photoshop will not boot. I was wondering if i could get some help? thanks in advance. |
Hi,
Welcome to LQ. Can you provide some more detail about this issue? What version of Ubuntu? How did you install wine? Will other Windows programs open in wine? |
I would use Gimp instead. Getting Wine and Photoshop working nicely can be an arduous task.

Depends on the version of PS. If you mean CS there are quite a number of tricks that need to be done.

I would use GIMP, but it is not loading either. I am currently using Piknik just because i need to resize and do basics, and I hate keeping people waiting.
|
Are you trying to use GIMP through wine, or the native version in linux?
|
Just using Gimp through linux, and photoshop through WINE. I am debating about re-installing?
|
HNave you tried running GIMP through the terminal, to see if it's spitting out any errors? I had thought i had a program not starting either, but i had forgotten it required JACKED to be started first, there wasnt any indication from starting it within the environment though.

I'm on my windows partition now, but if you start a terminal session and enter whatever the name of the gimp loader is, you'll actually see the text output, it might give you an idea if you're missing something.
