wine help

I just tried to run an installer for a windows XP program in wine. It started to run, but then an error popped up saying that the installer doesn't work with windows 2000, I thought Wine supported XP, what gives?

What version of Wine are you using? v0.9.58 supports XP, and v0.9.57 is the latest release that supports all older versions of Windows.

Keep in mind, also, that not all Windows-based software will work with Wine.

If you run wine configuration you can choose which version of windows it is acting like(including xp). That does not necessarily mean that wine will be able to run the program. How you run wine configuration depends on the distro you are using.
