wine causes system to hang in fedora 9
Hi,
I have installed wine and cabextract using yum on fedora 9. but whenever i try to run a windows application like winrar or any application, it causes the system to hang. i have to turn off the system and start it again. i have already applied the solution for "Preloader Page Zero Problem". is there any work around or should i just wait for a wine update because wine ran perfectly in my previous installation of fedora 7. Thanks. |
G'day, Wine was causing Fedora 9 hangs before some recent update. Have you updated your system recently? Also, I note that Wine in the Fedora release repository is 1.0 RC3, are you running that or have you built from 1.0 (release) source? I have no such problems with a fully patched Fedora 9, latest release NVIDIA proprietary driver, and Wine 1.0 built from source.

hi
thanks for the reply. i use 1.0RC3 wine version but i haven't done a system update yet. i will do it today and see if the problem still persists. |

i did a complete system update and the problem seems to be fixed. thanks a lot. |
You do know that there are native rar applications?

Have you tried putting wine_gecko-0.1.0.cab into /usr/share/wine/gecko/ - I found this stopped a hanging problem when I tried installing Office 97.
Get wine_gecko-0.1.0.cab from http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...kage_id=195269 |
