Windows XP not booting on Dual Boot with RH9

Hello, I have done dual boots with linux and windows before, but usually I install linux first then windoww. I done it different this time. I have two HD's one had XP and the other had Windows ME and then I out RH9 on it. Now when the sytem strats, and GRUB loads, I goto DOS option and it says Booting DOS, rootnoverify (hd0,1) chainloader +1

I dont know what to do. I program so I have alot of stuff on my XP hdd, so if there is any way I can get back to work w/o losing xp stuff I dont care about linux stuff right now I have 3 more computers I can put it on. I just need to save everythign on my XP disk if possible. Please help, and excuse my typos, I'm not in the greatest mood right now.

Heh heh heh, typos can sometimes be obvious, such as starts for 'strats', but they are funny too sometimes, such as when you typed 'out' for 'put'. Only geeks that know their keyboards well would realize that you hit the 'o' key right next to the 'p' key to make that mistake...

Anyway:
This is probably just another case of the bootloader overwriting the Windows bootloader (NTDLR) and you just have to remove the linux bootloader to get windows back. Search the forums on reinstalling the windows bootloader, that's your best bet.

A quick note for your future linux endeavors: RH9 is old school. If you are interested in running RedHat, Fedora is the new RedHat (similarly how CD's are the new tapes).

Good Luck!

Cool

No, I have used Linux before. I use Debian, Fedora, Suse, Damn Small Linux, Mandrake, and Gentoo. I like Suse the best. But anyway, thanks for the help.

what is your partition sheme?
And you can recover the XP partition either by using the XP install cd (making a reinstall) or using the XP install cd and installing in another partition. Another approach is to try to recover the installation using the recover console, you can try the commands fixmbr, fixboot. I had a problem like this sometime ago and found a lot about this on the microsoft site, try searching for these commands on the microsoft page. But I've choose the second option that I gave to you.
