windows xp install problem (dual)

I have slack 10 installed beforehand and I want windows xp on here for compatibility issues with the university. I reboot with the cd in and when it boots off of the cd I get half a screen of nines paired together then nothing. Lilo is installed on the mbr.

Assure that your BIOS is set to boot from CDROM
if that doesnt work, LILO is corrupt
btw: when you install winxp, you'll no longer be able to boot linux
make sure you have a boot disk
