Question Windows XP and Slackware 9

I have two hardrives installed in my computer, one 40 GB, another 80 GB.

1) 40Gb with original Dell XP Home Edition installation on it.
2) 80Gb completely empty.

I want the 80Gb Harddrive to run Linux(Slackware 9), but so far, every time I've tried something's gone wrong. My question is, is there a walkthrough or a FAQ somewhere to tell me how to get a dual-boot started? Let's say I have no(extremely little[Okay, I know some]) experience with Linux. I need something that works too... Haha, I found something at a website, and after the entire installation, the Linux Harddrive starts and does this:

L 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99...

And then switches to my XP Harddrive. Anyway, I just need a very detailed walkthrough for a Widows XP Home edition and Slackware 9 Dual-boot. Thanks

OK, if you can, disconnect the windows drive and re-install linux. If you can't did you modify the master boot record of the windows drive? And which boot loader are you using? Lilo, Grub (Ride the Grub!)?

Fixed

Somehow I fixed it... It was way earlier when it was broken, and I tried it one more time and it was fixed... So I have no idea how I fixed it... Sorry guys, for anyone who wanted this fixed, lol.
