Question Windows reclaimed daul booted drive

I installed RH 8 in a dual boot using Grub to select the primary as Windows 98. On my W98 I have Norton Utilities 02. I got a message from my NU saying there was a problem with the W98 registry or something like that. So I (being unfamiliar with the given problem) selected to have NU repair it. A couple days later I reboot to use RH and its not there. I check the drive size of windows and it has reclaimed the entire drive.

What did I do wrong?

My guess is that NU saw the linux partition (with its own filesystem) as an error and for it "correcting" the problem meant deleting it. Remember that Windows (and thus NU) doesn't like linux.
I could be mistaken though since i have no idea wether windows actually saves partition info in the registry.

I forgot:

Are you sure that NU didn't just rewrite the mbr? Try booting to linux with a boot floppy.

Ya it sounds like the mbr was overwriten, just put the linux cd in boot from it and it will put grub back.

Strange bedfellows we have here in Symantec and Vendow$ I can remember the day that Symantec really had problems with Vendow$ because M$ would not give them access to the code.

You would think they would see the light and find Open source is here and it going to be here for a long time after Vendow$ dies.

Just a matter of time now.

Rumor has it that M$ wants to change HD formats so they can have the market to themselves. Longhorn supposently is the first
step in OS where it has control OF EVERYTHING OS, Office, WEB,Email, Devices and of course your pocket book. Funny thing though I am unsure if this one will be ready for 64 bit, whereas Linux sit ready willing and able....

My thoughts have a great day.....
