Windows environment to a complete Linux environment is it possible?
Assume for a minute that you have the technical capacity to support Linux within a given company. Are there any other concerns you would have making the decision to switch from a Windows environment to a complete Linux environment?

Hi,
If you are speaking of a mixed environment then you will need to have security concerns. No real issue if you setup the domains so that services are provided to have interactions properly. If you setup a Linux server then you must be sure to prevent transmission of virus or the like to a MS based machine. If you wish to setup DNS then look at; http://tldp.org/LDP/lame/LAME/linux-...me-server.html Linux Administration Made Easy is a LDP which can be good place to start. The http://tldp.org/LDP is very resourceful! Hope this helps. Have fun & enjoy! :hattip: |
Well there's of course the obvious - does all of the software used by the company have a viable Linux alternative. Very often I believe you'll find the answer is 'no', which is why even predominantly Linux offices still need to keep a few Windows boxes or VMs around.

If this CONSTANT is not taken in consideration, the switch can be a total failure. |
