Windows disk in Linux
I'm running Red Hat 7.2 and cant get my Windows drive to mount. I edited fstab, adding the following: /dev/hdb1 /dos msdos defaults 0 0
When i try to mount it, it says wrong fs type, bad superblock on /dev/hdb1, or too many mounted file systems. :smash: |
what version of windows is the partition your trying to mount ?? if win98 or such, it could be vfat filesystem you need to set it too..
let us know ! |
Sorry, its Win 98 SE
|
should be using vfat for the filesystem then and not msdos..
|
Tried it using vfat and it still doesnt work :(

stupid question...? Is the windows drive hdb1 ? This would make it the first partition on the second IDE channel.
If you are not sure, type 'dmesg' to print the start up messages and look for the lines that identify hda and hdb by manufacturer. Joe |
Just to be sure I did dmesg, and hdb is the windows drive, and it only has 1 partition on it
|
OK, I got it, I looked more at dmesg and hdb only had one partition listed, but it was hdb2, not 1. So I changed fstab and now it works. Thanks for your help!
