Question Windows 7 restore

Hi,,,
I am trying to restore windows 7 using partimage.
To restore MBR for the image i am using:

dd if=/dev/sda of=/mnt/usb/b.mbr bs=446 count=1.

next, using partimage to restore windows. this procedure works fine for windows XP but for windows 7 it is not working after restoring the image system reboots and left with black screen and blinking cursor. what i noticed is when
i do parted /dev/sda for the first partition i get:

start:1049 kb but for windows XP it is 32.3 kb so since this value has been changed
image fails to restore. someone can help to resolve this issue thanks

With Windows 7 , this task has been made easy.

1.Get Windows 7 DVD or USB Boot Media or any Windows 7 Bootable device.

2.Start the installation of Windows 7 normally.

3.While checking your disk structure and content , Windows 7 will find your old operating system.

4. It will give you an option to restore/repair your current install.

5.Choose this option and your MBR will be restored.

thanks for the reply. but i have to create image out of current installed Windows 7 so it can be restored on the other machine with same hardware profile. i need to find out what i have to change since the start point is 1049 kb instead of 32.3 kb, so the procedure can work. if the start on the first partition is 32.3 kb the procedure works fine
