Windowmaker questions

But what can i do inoder to make the icons all appear in the desktop? firefox seems to work great and opens up just fine. i will only have to get the firefox icon on the desktop and including my home icon. because when i open up firefox the icon appears but when i close it the icon is removed. and i tried the icon-set, and typed in the box firefox and did work, but when i opened it there was an error opening firefox. i dont want to have to use the submenus all the time to open it up all the time.
