window managers - where to get them?

Hi all
Can any one tell me where to get other window managers?

Tinkster 05-24-2005 09:31 PM

Hi, and welcome to LQ!

Other than ... ?

And, more importantly, what distro are you using? :}

Cheers,
Tink

Hi, Thanx.
Well I've got GNOME, KDE, WindowMaker, Enlightenment, BlackBox and IceWM on Mandrake 10.0. I'vw got a couple of others when I boot my pc in Slackware.

In that case the first place to look should be your
installation CDs, mdk's package manager is bound
to have a category for those. The other place is
http://rpmfind.net

I've tried rpmfind.net but none of the wms there seems to work on mdk. I got sawfish from there and it didn't install, or if it did, it doesn't show on kdm. Also, allmost all the rpms I download from rpmfind.net seems to have "bad" or "invalid" signitures ()no fighting / accusing anyone!

Know of any place else?

when u installed sawfish, did you run 'xwmconfig'?

kriidler 05-25-2005 01:01 PM

Hi all,
Tinkster, Nope, just plain old Mandrake 10.0.
nadroj, 'xwmconfig'? there's such a file?

Tinkster 05-25-2005 01:20 PM

Well - use the source(s), then.

Tink

ya, at least on slack and ubuntu which i have used.. i would think its on all distros.
its a program to select the default WM for X. just login, run the program at a terminal before starting X (runlevel 3) and choose a WM to use. the selected WM will be the default one for the user who ran xwmconfig
