Winex
www.transgaming.com

They are a commercial fork of the WINE
project and they reputedly good support
for a lot of games.

Unless the game is actually ported to Linux (such as The SIMS, etc... ) , you will have to use some other program such as WineX ...

OpenGL games can work with wine.
But sound support is not as good as under winex
and winex as better support for the underlying API.

im not saying opengl games work directly on linux....

but wineX is for directX emulation... i think openGl games do not need wineX, just wine (which is free)

10 % of files in a game is actually windows specific. There are a lot of games where you can take the windows cd, download a linux binary installer, and just install, basically, a linux version. Certain games (ie: unreal tournament) are filled with data files that are read by the main program that is windows specific. You can try www.lokigames.com and see if your game is there. They have linux installers for a few games

One more thing. If a program gives you problems when autodetecting a disk, for mandrake do this

open terminal as your superuser, type in "supermount -i disable", then install the game, and type "supermount -i enable" to finish the job. One little problem that drove me nuts
