Win 7 Laptop gets cvsd: no system user when checking out ubuntu 11.04 server

Hi, I am attempting to set up a cvs server. I have Ubuntu server 11.04 installed on a dedicated PC and CVS configured. If I boot my laptop up into Ubuntu 10.10 I can login and check out from the cvs server. However, If I attempt to checkout from windows it says cvsd: no system user. I added the cvsd user from the /etc/passwd file to the /var/lib/cvsd/etc/passwd file with no change. Note: I can login to the cvs server from win 7. Can someone help?

PS I have reviewed the thread http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...in-cvs-886059/ and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...sd/+bug/801675
