Will Low-Level Formatting Get Rid of NTFS?

I have a nice big hard drive (250 GB) that is formatted using NTFS. From what I understand, once the drive is formatted using NTFS it can't be re-formatted to ext3. If I'm not mistaken a low-level format should allow me to change the file system, but I'd like to know for sure before I go ahead with it. Anyone know for sure?

Not true. All you need to do is change the partition type and use mkfs to create a new filesystem.

Low-level formating is normally done on drive straight out of the factory. No need for you to do that. As said just reformating the drive will get rid of NTFS.

Low level formeting, haven't done that since the days of RLL and MFM drives.
No need to do that just do as others above posted.
