It does look like it's using the Orinoco chipset by Proxim. How should I proceed from here? Any thoughts?

Hmm, Google isn't very helpful on this one.. Seems a few have had IRQ conflicts, few had other issues...

If nothing helpful comes on this thread, I'd consider asking this over in the Ubuntu forums, or perhaps in the support channel. I've actually never heard of that chipset.
