Wifi Problem Dell Latitude c610 with Dell TrueMobile miniPCI card 1150
I downloaded Puppy Linux Lucid one and the Slacko Puppy, I downloaded Bodhi Linux and i can't connect to wireless with them :(
The ubuntu based Bodhi Linux And Lucid Puppy detect my wireless card and are even able to let me try to connect to the network (so they see networks) . Then , when i try to connect it seems that they kind of crash or something :( On Bodhi Linux the Network manager just crashes and on Lucid Puppy it tries to connect , and then comes back and tells me that i should retry, perhaps the problem disappears . I did that many times and it didn't. On slacko puppy it just freezed the entire os ( and it didn't detect the card) I am booting all those from USB flashdrives . This computer doesn't have USB flashdrive boot from BIOS so i installed PLOP boot manager for windows. I don't think that matters much though. I will provide any other info that you want :) The network is WEP encrypted |
plug a wire to the laptop and hardwire connect to the internet then do a search for aditional drives. seems like your wireless card requires a propietory driver that is not offered from the install CD.
Once you have found, download and installed the new software you will probably have to set it up and. Good luck to you. |
Any update? Did you get it to work? I've got a C640 that HAD a truemobile 1150, stopped working after upgrading to Ubuntu 10.04. The truemobiles (orinoco) have known issues with Linux pretty much since then. I spent $15 and replaced the Truemobile with an Intel Pro/Wireless well worth it!

Hi snatale1 :)
No, I didn't get it to work, so I stick with WinXp for now :( Thanks for telling me about the Intel Wireless , but now I already got used to the monthly reinstall to make the thing go faster :) |
