Why would apt-get want a CD?

How do I tell apt-get to stop being a fuckin retard and use the internet to get packages?

Same goes for synaptic...

Edit the /etc/apt/sources.list file and put a "#" in front of the line that says "deb cdrom:".

Careful with the words F****** and retard. I think your whole phraseology is questionable. Perhaps you could have asked your question in a less offensive manner? Sorry to sound so middle-aged but hey ---- that's where I am at.

try : sudo vim /etc/apt/sources.list and then comment out the line mentioned in the post above.

Good luck!
