Question Why Ubuntu 11.04 Desktop not auto mount usb storage without logging?

Why Ubuntu 11.04 Desktop not automount usb storage without logging?
For needs work, we demand that various peripheral USB storage (keys, hard drives ...often in a position remoted without network, whitout KVM) to be mounted automatically, without logging the user.
Is it possible?
If so, how?

Thank you in advance.

PS: When a client is logged, the mount is done automatically.

The automatic mounting of devices is a function of the desktop environment, so unless the user is logged in and the DE is running, devices won't be automatically mounted.

If you want to mount a device system-wide at boot time, look into placing it into /etc/fstab.
